Have You Tried The Brand New Paul L. Thompson Western? “U.S. Marshal Shorty Thompson – We’re Gonna Die Ain’t We Danny” Is Now Available!

Small farmers and ranchers south, southeast of the small railroad town of Odessa Texas was having a hard time making a living. Their crops were devastated by roaming wild cattle.

Hundreds, thousands of Texas Longhorns would converge on a man’s crops and by sunup the next day nothing was left. Something had to be done or they would have to move off and leave their homes. No one could survive.
At last word was picked up in the largest saloon in Odessa that the Eddy- Bissell Livestock Company in southeastern New Mexico would buy all cattle brought to their ranch.

Eighteen men and five boys’ ages eleven to sixteen years old built a five acre corral. It was built strong out of mesquite limbs and tree trunks. The barbwire gate was sixteen feet wide with outreaching arms to funnel the cattle thru and into that corral. Feed had to be brought in first to feed all cattle until time for the drive. It was build straddling a small stream so water wouldn’t have to be hauled in. It took two months rounding up just over twenty five hundred head of longhorns. Now to start that long cattle drive two hundred miles west to Eddy, New Mexico and the Eddy-Bissell Livestock Company. Grab your copy by clicking here.

The Simple Sales Strategy Behind The Number One Western Bestseller From Cherokee Parks!

Cherokee Parks at number one! What an achievement. Having already hit the top in January with Paul L. Thompson, none of us believed that a second top spot taker would be just around the corner. It was a pleasant surprise—a surprise that caused all those other wonderful Cherokee Parks Westerns to jump up and take over the top one hundred. All in all, at this time of writing, ten percent of sales inside the top one hundred are Cherokee Parks. That’s some achievement, and it took a lot of work, but I wanted to share with you the strategy we used to get these books to take off. Here are some of the ideas behind this latest number one bestseller.

This year, 2020, we are subscribing to the SOLES philosophy for moving books. It’s a philosophy that means hard work—but good results. All the books inside the top one hundred that I work on use this philosophy, and I think you could give it a try yourself and make it work for you.

S: SOLES. Yes, the soles of your shoes have to be a solid basis for your footwear. Without the sole, the boot would be useless. This means that we have to take a look at the catalogue of books being sold. The categories, the keywords, the covers, the reviews—will this book move? Is this a book a potential reader will want to read? Do you have the correct SOLE for your catalogue, or will that first nail stick straight into your foot and cripple you? With Cherokee Parks, we decided to re-release his whole catalogue fresh and start from there. It worked. Can this work for you?

O: ORGANIZATION. The way your books are organized can either make or break your sales attempts. For example, are all of your books attached to your author page? Does your series have a series page? Do you have editorial reviews? Is the first book in your series listed as the first? Are you organized to make sales happen?

L: LEARN: Yes, I know, everyone knows everything, right? Well, we don’t. What do you know about the readership? Which books are most popular, which authors are the topsellers, who has new releases coming out, how are other books being sold, are audiobooks the big thing? What is happening within the genre? This is the learning stage. You’ve done everything you can think to sell your books and now you have to look at what others are doing—reading this blog could be considered learning! How can you add to what you already have to create sales success for your books? In the case of Cherokee, it was to go ahead and put together a Mountain Man project—a project we knew readers would go ape for. We were proved correct. That Mountain Man hit went to number one—it’s called “The Trader.”

E: ENERGIZE: Get those books ready for sale, start your ads, get inside the top one hundred of your given categories. Get onto the project and start reeling in those sales. This is the time for advertising, for capitalizing, SEO optimization, for keyword initiatives and cross-promotion. It’s time for getting into the game and bringing those sales into your fold.

S: SALES: The final step is to start counting the sales and find out what worked and what didn’t work. Which book performed best? What worked best for your books? What could you have done to have increased sales? This is the reflection before the whole thing starts again—and it will start again—because you have to go for gold with SOLES to keep those sales coming in!

Anyone can use this strategy outlined above. Sit down and start doing it. You may find that you enjoy the process of selling books more than writing ’em! It’s a good feeling when you hit the top. Now, if you have any questions, send me a note through the form below. Always happy to hear from you!

Cherokee Parks Hits The Top: “The Trader” Leaps To Number One On The Western Bestseller Chart

Cherokee Parks, one of the major hitmakers for DS Productions, has scored the NUMBER ONE bestselling position in America with his latest Western “The Trader.” Parks, who has been racking up the hits for years now… has now scored his first chart topper. This is also the first NUMBER ONE bestseller for DS Productions in 2020 too, and may I add the second one I’ve pushed to the top in January. The first was Paul L. Thompson and his “You Shot Me Once! Never Again!” for Outlaws Publishing. What a smashing way to start the new year!

In this latest book from Cherokee Parks, the first book in The Trader saga, we follow the steps of one of the hundreds of unnamed men who traveled west in the early 1800s. Called by some strange force that beckoned him to leave the safety and comfort of hearth and home for the wild, untamed Rocky Mountains and all their adventures, dangers and treasures, this man was destined to become one of the men we know today as “The Mountain Men.” Thomas Samuel “Tree” Bell was a gigantic man for his day, standing six feet ten inches and weighing nearly three hundred pounds while only eighteen years old. Unlike many others his size, Tree was not only strong, but also fleet of foot, a skilled archer, extremely accurate with his long gun, an excellent horseman and highly intelligent. Of Scottish and Cherokee heritage, Tree spoke several languages, a skill that would come in handy more than once and allow him to learn even more languages as he traveled from tribe to tribe as The Trader. Tree made his mark in the west among both red and white man alike, yet his name, like so many others, was lost to history…

Thompson, Joiner, Fie, Winkle, Harris And Parks Lead The Way With Bestsellers Through January 2020

The slowest sales month of the year kicked off with a bang for Western authors, with a series of hit novels from some of the genre’s greatest exponents.

Leading the way, Paul L. Thompson scooped up the number one position with his “You Shot Me Once! – Never Again!” smash—the seventy-ninth book in his long-running series about a marshal called Shorty Thompson.

Cherokee Parks hit hard for DS Productions with his first new release of the year. “The Trader” moved over a million pages with a chart high of number three. This exciting Mountain Man adventure will continue with a new book in the series scheduled for February release.

Those readers can’t get enough of William H. Joiner with fourteen of his titles placed inside the top one hundred at once. His catalogue represents some of the strongest Western sales of 2019—and now 2020. “The Legend of Jake Jackson,” “Caleb Jacobs” and “Angel Jacobs” all placed highly, making Joiner one of the true winners of January 2020.

Scott Harris—he of the heavy sales history—scored with his latest smash, “Renegades,” which is the seventh book in his popular “Brock Clemons Westerns” series. The other seven books also popped back up to say hello once again to the bestseller chart.

John D. Fie, Jr. scored with two of the popular books in his “Gunfighter” series. The first has been inside the top one hundred for several months now, and the second is just about to break through into the heavenly top one hundred. A brand new Fie smash is slated for February 2020.

C. Wayne Winkle shifted the units during January. His “Jake Ritter” release has been consistently in the top twenty since release—over a million pages of Winkle were moved in January. Is anything going to slow down one of the great sellers of today?

Western Bestseller Scott Harris Interviewed On The Leo Affects Podcast!

The Three C’s Creates Number One Sales Success For Paul L. Thompson

A brand new year is upon us—and a brand new year brings new opportunity and successes. Western hits will be created, sold and enjoyed this year. Brand new authors will be introduced—but one new constant seems to have remained: Paul L. Thompson, the Western author who seems to be a perennial, and that perennial has just taken his first number one bestseller of the year. “You Shot Me Once! Never Again!” is the new number one bestseller, but what caused such continued success? How did this book go from being a slow starter, looking likely to miss the bestseller chart, to the number one bestseller in less than a month?

When Paul L. Thompson released his new series—his first without Shorty Thompson—nobody could have predicted the absolutely mania that would follow. The first book in this series started slowly but shot up to the number one position, and the Thompson back catalogue has flared up to create something of a rush on Thompson product. This month, an estimated three million pages of Thompson product will be read, and books that long stood dormant will become in demand for Western readers around the world. The award winner has proven that you can be both commercially successful and acclaimed at the same time.

The quality of Thompson product has worked in his favor to such a degree, there is little or no problem envisioning that people will rush to buy his latest book when it goes up for sale next month. Meanwhile, sales of his older “Shorty Thompson” titles will just continue to roll on. Smart promotion has ensured he is not overexposed.

Anyone can use similar techniques to bring their books to the fore. With the Western readership crying out for good, new stories, it’s likely your book will find acceptance. As long as you have a quality story to share, you make it visible—and you follow the three C’s—you can’t go far wrong. What are the three C’s, you ask?

The first C is Consistency. This is something all authors have to practice. Consistency in book promotion is the only way a book will move. You can’t do one, or two, or three things. You have to consistently promote your book. You have to always be doing something. Always looking to get more attention for your book, always running little ads, or trying to get more reviews. You have to be consistent on your journey towards success.

The second C is Commitment. We all have commitments in our lives, and those commitments sometimes seem like a problem. But in reality, a commitment is just achievement in process. As an author, you have to commit to your book and commit to its success. If you don’t commit to your book, you won’t be able to be consistent (the first C), and you will find it harder to be successful. Commitment gives you the grit needed to get the job done. I ask all my clients to be committed to the promotion of their book. I ask them to answer interviewers, to write blog articles, to be involved, because unless you love your own baby, how can you expect anyone else to?

The third C is a very special one. One that this very, very talented author mentioned to me. This C stands for “cool,” and it’s true—you have to be cool to be successful. You have to keep a level head and not become depressed when your book isn’t discovered on day one. You have to be cool when you are interviewed, and cool when you are reading a bad review. You have to keep cool, and… be committed… and be consistent.

Maybe you can do the same thing. I think you can! Drop a line below if you have any questions.

It’s A Beautiful Day In The Chart Neighbourhood: Twenty-Five Westerns In The Top Fifty

Sometimes it’s so incredible to see the way readers react to books. Did anyone think, four years ago, that brand new Western authors could dominate the bestseller chart? I’m not sure… but I think it’s fantastic that so much new talent has been developed, and is currently being enjoyed by so many people.

Twenty-five books in the top fifty come from authors I have been working with. Some are brand new authors who have new stories to tell… and some are old favorites.

Let us now take a look at them.

At number four we have “The Trader” from Cherokee Parks. This is the latest Parks in a long, long line of successes. What makes him so popular? Read the book and find out…

Paul L. Thompson stands at number seven with one of his latest “Shorty Thompson” successes as William H. Joiner, Jr. moves up to number eight with “The Legend of Jake Jackson.”

C. Wayne Winkle sits at number ten with “Lucas Poteet: Gold Fever.” This one has been on the charts for a long, long time now– and still keeps bringing in new readers.

“Branson Hawk – United States Marshal” moves up to number fourteen. Months later and this book is still making gains, and pleasing readers the world over.

Paul L. Thompson moves up to number sixteen with a golden oldie! This is “U.S Marshal Shorty Thomspon – Animas City.”

Ric Maddox moves in and sits at number seventeen with his “Malone Ranch Murders” smash as William H. Joiner, Jr. moves up to number eighteen with “Angel Jacobs.” Two spectacular western reads!

Scott Harris stands at number twenty-one with “Renegades” as C. Wayne Winkle leaps up number twenty with “Jake Ritter.”

One of the brand new hitmakers from Outlaws Publishing moves up the chart like a rocket. This is “Tyler Purdom – Silver Eagle” at number twenty-three for James Scott.

At number twenty-five we have “The Legend of Jake Jackson” from William H. Joiner followed closely by Randall Dale at number twenty-six with “The Pardner’s Trust Series.”

Two big William H. Joiner smash hits sit at number twenty-seven and number twenty-eight as Randall Dale moves “Wichita Connection” up to number twenty-nine. C. Wayne Winkle keeps those sales coming in with one of his latest “Searcher” smash hits at number thirty.

At number thirty-three William H. Joiner strikes with one of his latest “Caleb Jacobs” hits. Another of these great releases will be on the market soon.

“Timber” from Robert Hanlon moves up to number thirty seven. This is the latest book in his popular series– and one of the best he’s ever written, by all accounts.

Randall Dale rises to number thirty-nine with “Dead Man’s Gold” as Cherokee Parks sits at number forty with “No Town For Outlaws.”

“Angel Jacobs” moves up to number forty-five for William H. Joiner as Paul L. Thompson takes over the number forty-six position with “Mister I’ll See You Dead.”

At number forty-nine we have “The Legend of Jake Jackson” from William H. Joiner as Gary Church moves up to number fifty with “When Justice is Done.”
