Heading To Market On Thursday: Freckled Fury: The First, Second And Third Westerns In The “The Freckled Venom Series”

Ride with the first three Western adventures in “The Freckled Venom Series” from Juliette Douglas! These award-winning Westerns will take you on a journey—a journey you’ll want to take time, and time again!

Book One:

Meet Lacy, a renowned bounty hunter, often sought after for the most dangerous cases. She is tougher than some of the toughest men, on both sides of the law. One fall night, she disguises her identity as she travels to a town she has avoided for nine years. On the trail of the notorious killers, the Dillard brothers, the injured bounty hunter enters White River disguised as a young boy, and soon encounters Rawley Lovett, the town marshal. After an altercation, Rawley pursues the mysterious bounty hunter, only to discover the true identity of the stranger. Rawley soon discovers that Lacy has a tragically complicated story, and he is bound and determined to unravel it and help her come to terms with her past.

Book Two:

After she ran away on Christmas Day, Rawley Lovett tracked Lacy Carrigan to her hideaway and convinced her to return to White River with him. Still fighting her demons from her troubled past, her adjustment to living in the tight-knit community is difficult for her, but she is determined to make it work. Slowly, the walls she has built up around her start to come down, but not without a lot of work on the part of Marshal Lovett, her boss and the man who knows he loves the independent, troubled woman. In the second book of the series, Lacy comes face to face with those who hurt her in her childhood, and both she and Rawley face men they had captured and who they thought were gone for good.

Book Three:

It’s been almost ten years since Rawley and Lacy Lovett married and moved into their house in White River. Since then, Billy has grown to help his father in the marshal’s office. Cotton has become a leader among his peers, and wants to study law, and Hanah has followed in her mother’s footsteps, becoming a spirited, red-haired, freckle-faced spitfire. Skeletons from their past soon come back to haunt them, when an unscrupulous man returns to town to seek vengeance on Rawley and Lacy, committing a crime that affects the entire town of White River and is the catalyst for heartbreak for Ezra, the owner of the local mercantile.

“The Legend of Jake Jackson: The Last Of The Great Gunfighters: Book Three” Is Now Available From William H. Joiner!

The third book in this bestselling Western series from William H. Joiner, Jr.

Jake Jackson was a legend in the Old West. His ability with a gun was unmatched. His name brought hope to the oppressed and sent shivers of fear up the spines of outlaws. Jake Jackson was equally as revered among the Comanche where he was raised from an infant to become the Comanche Warrior, White Wolf. There were many songs sung around campfires in Comanche villages praising his fierceness in battle.

Jake Jackson could revert back to his Comanche ways in the blink of an eye when the situation demanded no mercy to those preying on the weak or unprotected.

An excerpt from the upcoming Jake 3

Dick Brunson the owner of the Circle B was flushed with anger, “McCabe, I hired you to stop cattle theft on my range! Instead I have evidence that you’re the one rustling my cows! What have you got to say for yourself?” Brunson was backed up by two of the Circle B hands. Both cowboys had their pistols drawn covering McCabe.

Frank McCabe untied his kerchief and mopped the sweat from his face. He grimaced, “Dick, I tried to tell you I needed more money. You try to squeeze every last nickel. You left me no choice but to collect from your cattle.” Brunson sputtered, “Y..yo..you’ve loco!…You’re awfully calm for someone who’s about to be hung!” McCabe grinned and shrugged his shoulders. Brunson ordered his men, “Alright boys, string this sum bitch up!”

Both guns roared. The bullets struck Brunson in the back, slamming him face down on the ground. As McCabe watched the blood leak from the dying man, he said, “Thanks, Dick, for bringing my partners to this little party. You were dumb right up to the very end.”

When McCabe and his henchmen rode back to the herd, he waved at the three remaining Circle B men to come over. McCabe informed them, “I just come from the boss. He wanted me to give y’all this.” McCabe, Roscoe and Abner jerked their sixguns and opened fire on the astonished cowhands. When the last one quit twitching, McCabe laughed, “Well boys, just like I promised. The Circle B is ours.”

Later when they relaxed at the house at headquarters, McCabe shoved a piece of paper across the table. He stated, “Abner, this is a bill of sale transferring the ranch and cattle to me. I want you to sign Dick Brunson’s name to it. Dick never had no kin that I knew of. I don’t think we’ll ever be questioned, but if we were, I want to have this bill of sale to back up my claim.”

McCabe sat opposite from Allen Vincent at his desk in the First Cattlemen’s Bank of Sweetwater. Vincent was the president of the bank. He carefully read the paper that McCabe had brought. Reluctantly, Vincent announced, “The bill of sale seems to be in order. It is rather surprising that Dick Brunson decided to sell and leave the country. I guess it shows that you never know what someone is really thinking. How can I help you?”

McCabe smiled, “Part of the deal I made with Dick is that I would get any money he had in the bank. I don’t want to withdraw the money. I just want to deposit it in a new account.” Vincent sighed, “Well, I guess that would be alright seeing as how Dick had told me he had no family.” McCabe flashed a slick smile, “I appreciate it, Allen.” Vincent bristled at McCabe being only a common cowboy, would be so familiar to address him by his first name. In spite of that Vincent knew that the Circle B was a key account for the bank. Vincent gritted his teeth, “Mr. McCabe, we’re having a small soiree at my house tonight. I would be pleased if you attended.” McCabe replied, “Thanks, Allen. I’ll give it some thought.”

Even after McCabe had left his office, Vincent sat for a good while in stunned silence. Allen Vincent was the wealthiest and most influential man in Sweetwater. He was not used to being dismissed out of hand by someone from a lesser station in life.

McCabe never had any intention of attending Vincent’s get together. Last night he had made the acquaintance of one “Hatpin” Harriet Murphy. Murphy had acquired her moniker by her habit of concealing a long hatpin in her flowing ink-black hair. Many had felt that hatpin buried deeply in their belly when Murphy was upset with them. A few never felt it at all as Murphy silenced them for good with a thrust of her hatpin in the base of their skull.

Hatpin was the owner and sole proprietor of the Last Indian Saloon. She was the product of Irishman Tim Murphy and a renegade Apache woman. Those that felt that a woman could not hold her own in the cut-throat bar business, did not know Hatpin. She was the equal of any man when it came to ruthlessness and cruelty. When asked about the name of her saloon, Hatpin was fond of saying, “If you cross me, I will be the last Indian you’ll see.”

Could You Replicate The Million-Page Western Success Of Gene Turney? Why Don’t You Give It A Try!

One of the great successes of 2019 has been Gene Turney with his first release, “The Little Ranch In Texas.” Published by Outlaws Publishing, this Western was almost instantly a success with readers, but what caused the book to become so popular so quickly? What was it about “The Little Ranch in Texas” that made for such a big success?

Of course, the book is well written. Nobody can deny that it’s an entertaining story written by someone who understands how to tell a story—but a strategy came into play behind this book that I thought I’d share with you. A strategy you could use to propel your own Westerns to great success.

Advertising

Knowing the strength of the product, we knew that we just had to educate readers about the existence of the book. This took advertising, and we targeted folks buying older similar product, Western box set collections, and some of those very popular “Texas” titles. These readers saw the new book and converged en masse on Amazon to purchase this new strong product from Gene Turney. Rising like a bullet, the book has already achieved a sales award from Outlaws Publishing, his publisher. It became hot because of that capability of educating readers about new product as they buy similar product from established authors.

Keywords

Keywords came into play here also, as did categories. Using the right keywords and categories, we were able to position the book to make a seemingly impossible climb a fast ascent. This created a surge that supported our attempts at advertising.

Categories

Categories were very important from this new release from an unknown author. We started with a series of categories that raised awareness and then switched to categories that would help grow his audience. This created a first and second surge of sales for Mister Turney.

Result

The result? A number one bestseller in many countries—and a straight, top ten smash in the United States. Gene Turney will now have a platform from which to sell his second book… but when will it arrive?

When promoting books, you’ve got to look at the whole picture. Western novels are powerful sellers, and by smartly making use of categories, keywords and advertising, we managed to really capitalize and energize his readership. By having quality product, we knew that readers would love the book. Maybe you can do the same thing with a little bit of timing, advertising, solid product and some muscle. I think you can! Twenty Westerns In The Top Thirty: How The Western Keeps Growing, Growing, Growing!

Sometimes it’s so incredible to see the way readers react to books. Did anyone think, four years ago, that brand new Western authors could dominate the bestseller chart? I’m not sure… but I think it’s fantastic that so much new talent has been developed, and is currently being enjoyed by so many people.

Twenty books in the top thirty come from authors I have been working with. Brand new authors who have new stories to tell.

Let us now take a look at them.

And at NUMBER ONE and NUMBER TWO, we have Randall Dale with the first two books in his tremendous series. Both have been to number one, and a third is on the way to market. At number three we have “Second Hand Colt” from George M. Goodwin.

Gary Church stands at #4 with “Frontier Lawman” as C. Wayne Winkle climbs to #6 with the third book in his terrifically popular “Searcher” series…

C. Wayne Winkle stands at #10 with “The Searcher: Book Two” as William H. Joiner, Jr. moves up to #11 with “Duel Under The Arizona Sun.” D.M. Haggard moves up to #12 with “Pursuit.” He has a new book heading out soon.

The first book in “The Searcher” series moves up to #13 for C. Wayne Winkle. Look over there! It’s #15! Mike Mackessy keeps scoring with his previous number one bestseller “Broken Dog Ranch.”

“Down From The Mountain” stands at #17 for Mike Mackessy. A truly energetic smash hit #western that readers never seem to grow tired of.

“12 Gauge Justice” moves up to #20 for C. Emerson Law. He has new book on the market called “The Legend of Badger Grant.” Randall Dale moves to #21 with his box set– a sure fire hit!

“Caleb Jacobs” stands at #22 for William H. Joiner. This one has been a solid mover. Behind Joiner we have John D. Fie, Jr. with his latest greatest hits collection– and behind Fie we have another guy! Yes… it’s the fourth book in “The Searcher” series from C. Wayne Winkle.

“Good Man– Bad Enemy” stands at #25 for Gary Church. Scott Harris rides just behind with “Wounded, Hunted and Alone.”

“Caleb Jacobs: Book Two” from William H. Joiner, Jr. rounds off these chart places… but Paul L. Thompson stands just ahead at #28. One heck of an achievement!

As I’ve said before… we’ve proved that new Westerns can sell, how are you going to get your book into the top twenty? I think you can follow the trail that has already been blazed. Now, it’s true these books were all heavily promoted, but the very base of their promotion was… the THREE C’s.

Anyone can use similar techniques to bring their books to the fore. With the Western readership crying out for good, new stories, it’s likely your book will find acceptance. As long as you have a quality story to share, you make it visible—and you follow the three C’s—you can’t go far wrong. What are the three C’s, you ask?

The first C is Consistency. This is something all authors have to practice. Consistency in book promotion is the only way a book will move. You can’t do one, or two, or three things. You have to consistently promote your book. You have to always be doing something. Always looking to get more attention for your book, always running little ads, or trying to get more reviews. You have to be consistent on your journey towards success.

The second C is Commitment. We all have commitments in our lives, and those commitments sometimes seem like a problem. But in reality, a commitment is just achievement in process. As an author, you have to commit to your book and commit to its success. If you don’t commit to your book, you won’t be able to be consistent (the first C), and you will find it harder to be successful. Commitment gives you the grit needed to get the job done. I ask all my clients to be committed to the promotion of their book. I ask them to answer interviewers, to write blog articles, to be involved, because unless you love your own baby, how can you expect anyone else to?

The third C is a very special one. One that a very, very talented author mentioned to me. This C stands for “cool,” and it’s true—you have to be cool to be successful. You have to keep a level head and not become depressed when your book isn’t discovered on day one. You have to be cool when you are interviewed, and cool when you are reading a bad review. You have to keep cool, and… be committed… and be consistent.

These authors, among many other authors, are the perfect example of talent who have used the three C’s to make their books successful. These authors are consistent, committed and cool.

How about you? Are you able to copy this strategy to make your books successful? I think so. You don’t need anything other than yourself to be successful. You can do it yourself. Anyone can do it. Try the strategy outlined in this post for yourself. Be consistent, committed, and cool, make your book visible, and share your story with the world using the three C’s!

Have You Tried “The Little Ranch In Texas: A Western Adventure” From Gene Turney?

What’s this one about?

Charlie Taylor had no idea what he would find when he came to Texas. He did know that he wanted to learn to be a rancher. Charlie encounters the very crust of the earth when his horse makes the first stop in Live Oak Springs, Texas. It became obvious to everyone that Charlie was going to need a lot of help to become a rancher. Even the woman who melted his heart could shoot better than Charlie. But Charlie had some strong attributes and a good moral compass. People began to learn Charlie was as good as his word, and he had a mission in life to help people and things grow. Live Oak Springs, Texas begins to come to life when Charlie Taylor arrives in town.

What do reviewers say?

“When I heard that Gene Turney had written this book, I knew I had to read it because I have enjoyed so much his stories about growing up in the same part of Texas. I was not disappointed! It is a great read. There is some gunfire and romance so I guess it would be rated PG, but it is a good book for cowboy lovers of any age. Gene has done a good job of capturing the goodness of the people who inhabited this part of Texas in that time period and has woven it into an interesting and heart warming story about those people and their special affection for the land.”

“The Legend of Badger Grant: A Western Adventure” Arrives From C. Emerson Law!
